Welcome to Sixth Grade!

Welcome to Sixth Grade!  I am pleased to be working with your child this year.  This is my seventeenth year of teaching and my twelfth year in Bristol Township.  We have many activities planned for this year, including Veteran’s Day projects, a field trip to Historic Philadelphia, a Holocaust Survivor speaker presentation, Sixth Grade Spirit Day, and a special end-of-the-year Sixth Grade Trip and picnic.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to working with you and your child this year!

Students will have homework every night.  Per district guidelines of 10 minutes per grade level, sixth graders could have up to 60 minutes of homework per night.  There will be Vocabulary and Math homework every night.  Starting in October, there will also be a weekly reading assignment called Article of the Week that takes 5-10 minutes per night.  Please let us know if homework takes longer than 60 minutes so we can adjust the assignments, if necessary.

Additionally, students should be reading at least 30 minutes for 100 Book Challenge every night.

Due to the pace of the Math program, students may have short math assignments over the weekend.  This is necessary to cover the required material for the curriculum and to be prepared for the PSSA in the spring.

The school will provide an agenda book where students will copy their homework assignments daily.  If it becomes necessary, I will ask parents to initial that your child has done his homework each night.  I will also use this book as my daily communication with you regarding your child’s behavior.
